Rifles on the move

In addition to the E9 showcase league, the Rifle U15, U16 and U18 teams are now members of the prestigious “Beast” league.  The Beast league is one of the top Tier 1 Midget leagues in the Country. The teams from the “Beast” have won numerous USAH Tier 1  national championships and are consistently ranked in the top ten nationally. The teams will play each other at various showcases culminating with playoffs in late October.  The Rifles are excited to have their player’s talents showcased in such a powerhouse leagues and will continue to follow through on providing maximum exposure for their players. Keep expecting great things from the Rifles organization!

The Springfield Rifles are one of the fastest growing youth hockey organizations in New England.

This growth, based in the success of our players, was formed in the “Rifles Way” - balancing both hockey development and competition. Our elite teams compete in the Elite 9 hockey league (E9), one of the top youth hockey leagues in the country.  Our select teams compete in the Boston Hockey League(BHL) or the Premier Hockey League of New England (PHL).

The Rifles are excited to announce the following program enhancements for the 2017-18 season:

  • The Rifles plan to expand to three teams at every birth year.
  • A formalization of the “Rifles Way” structure for all teams: Coaches Foley, Kervick, and Moriarty will work with individual coaches and teams to provide a systematic approach to development. This includes a practice plan design with a heavy influence on skills development. We will also introduce a standardized progressive approach to teaching systems to all of our teams. The systems we will teach are the same one’s that Coach Kervick employs with his highly successful midget teams.  These include defensive zone coverage, forecheck, neutral zone play, power play and penalty kill.
  • The launch of our new website to highlight player and team success and improve communication with families.

The management team for the Rifles has grown to support these initiatives:

Brian Foley, General Manager
Kevin Kervick, Director of Hockey Operations
Barbara-Jean Deloria, Assistant Director of Hockey Operations, USA Hockey Liaison
Pat Moriarty, Youth Director of Player Development
John Beattie, Web Director
Alexander Malkov aka “Sasha”, Powerskating Coach

The growth of the Rifles validates the success of both our players and our approach to hockey development. Regardless of the age of your hockey player, the Rifles provide a strategically competitive environment to foster their development.
